Fast Facts About The 2011 F1 Season

Formula 1 (F1) fever is all set to grip us once again. Here are some fast facts about the 2011 Formula 1 season.

1. Return of KERS - KERS or Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems is all set to make a comeback after a gap of 1 year.

2. Pirelli will take over as the sport’s sole tyre supplier.

3. Introduction of 107% qualifying rule - During the first phase of qualifying, any driver who fails to set a lap time within 107 percent of the fastest Q1 time, will not be allowed to start the race.

4. The first ever Indian Grand Prix will be held from 28 - 30 Oct. This is however subject to track approval.

5. Teams will have to ensure that their gearboxes last for at least 5 weekends, instead of the previous four.

6. The 2011 F1 season will feature 20 races.
