Dish TV Offers Basic Channels For Free - A Game Changer

With the government making digitisation compulsory in the four metros from October 31, there is reason for the consumers to smile. Dish TV has come up with an offer that's all set to change the dimensions of the cable television industry in India and possibly setting up a price war within the industry.

Under a new scheme, presently being made available to new dish subscribers, Dish TV is offering the basic package of 70 channels - absolutely free of cost - for lifetime*. The company has also promised to extend similar benefits to their existing subscribers.

According to R.C. Venkatesh, Chief Executive Officer, Dish TV, the move will translate into huge competitive advantage for Dish TV as none of its competitors (both cable as well as DTH operators) presently offer their basic channels free of cost.

Under the new scheme however, the customers will be required to recharge their STV's for a minimum value of Rs. 200 every six months. Moreover the company seems to treat lifetime as being a period of five years. However whatever may be the conditions, this offer is indeed a GAME-CHANGER.
