Samsung electronics has recently announced Samsung Z - the world’s first smartphone that runs on the Tizen (V 2.2.1) OS in an effort to break away from the android jinx.
Zixen is an flexible open-source operating system (OS) that is primarily targeted at the mobile and connected device ecosystem.
The Samsung Z sports a 4.8 inch 720 x 1080 pixels Super AMOLED display which translates into a pixel density of 306 ppi and is powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core processor and features a 2Gb RAM. It has an internal memory of 16GB which is expandable upto 64GB.
The smartphone sports a 8 Megapixel primary camera with autofocus and LED flash and a 2.1 MP secondary (front) camera.
The smartphone is equipped with a 2600 mAh battery and is expected to weigh in at around 138g.
The Samsung Z is a single sim smartphone and is expected to be released later this year.
Samsung is taking a big risk by launching a Tizen based smartphone in an environment that is dominated by the Android OS.
